Your reference for hepatitis C in Quebec
Excerpt from the Closing Statement of the World Hepatitis Summit qui a eu lieu à Bangkok du 28 au 30 avril 2026.
Under the theme of Elimination for everyone, everywhere, starting now!

Based on the findings, the recommendations in the statement are as follows:
After preventing new infections and integrating hepatitis prevention and care into health care systems, comes The Cost of Government Inaction.
"We must transform ourselves and innovate so that the fight against hepatitis is treated as a priority and receives adequate funding. We must recognize the cost of inaction—in terms of human lives and resources—and act accordingly.
Governments and donors must significantly increase effective and sustainable funding for hepatitis control programs, including through costed national hepatitis elimination plans, dedicated recurring budget lines, clear national targets, annual public reports, and community-led monitoring mechanisms. It is their responsibility.

Take action now : reaffirm our commitment to the goals of eliminating hepatitis, make policy decisions based on scientific evidence and developed in consultation with communities, fund, implement, and scale up hepatitis control measures, and make the elimination of this disease a priority in national health programs.
Preventing liver cancer requires eliminating viral hepatitis.
After reading this statement, one can’t help but think: What is it that the Quebec government doesn't understand about this? According to them, they’ve done a lot, …? It’s true that they started by refusing to acknowledge or endorse the WHO’s elimination goals; the rest followed, and they’re certainly sticking to their plan!
