Our trainings are offered as part of the DÉSIRS (Dépister, Éduquer, Sensibiliser, Informer pour Réduire la Stigmatisation) alliance, a community partnership with the Portail VIH/SIDA du Québec (PVSQ) that aims to increase and update knowledge about HCV, HIV, and STBBIs among community interveners, health professionals∙les, or in prison settings, and with key populations directly.

Progressive learning modules (HCV and HIV) on 4 levels have been created with recognition of prior learning. A certificate of participation will be given to participants who complete the first 2 levels, and those who complete all 4 levels will receive a certificate of achievement in the form of a diploma that guarantees your ability to work with key hepatitis C populations in a safe and inclusive manner. For those who already have knowledge about Hepatitis C, our online self-assessment tool allows you to measure your level of knowledge and to register directly for level 2 of the training if you score 70% or more.

HCV 101 : Biological aspects, transmission and treatment

This training aims at acquiring or developing basic knowledge on hepatitis C in order to equip the various stakeholders to better respond to the specific needs of key clients. This is the 1st level of learning out of 4 to receive a complete HCV training and a prerequisite to follow the HCV 102 level

If you think you have already acquired the basic knowledge of hepatitis C, our  online assessment tool allows you to measure your knowledge of HCV and to register directly for level 2, if you obtain 70% or more of success. Level 1 is the only level that does not require follow-up if you pass the assessment.

HCV 102 : Prevention strategies

This training highlights the various prevention, elimination and community management strategies and public health issues related to hepatitis C as addressed by the World Health Organization. HCV 102 is the 2nd of 4 levels of training to receive full HCV training and a prerequisite to take HCV 201.

A certificate of participation in the first two levels will be given to participants who complete HCV 101 and 102.

HCV 201: Complex realities

This training builds on the previous two levels to provide a significant deepening of basic concepts and additional knowledge on specific issues related to HCV infection. HCV 201 is the 3rd of 4 levels of learning to receive a complete HCV training and a prerequisite to take the STI Immersion training.

  • Fibrosis, cirrhosis phases and hepatocarcinoma
  • Fibroscan, bio-chemical and other scores
  • Treatments
  • Interactions with drugs and natural products
  • Subtances, alcohol and HCV

  • HCV and pregnancy
  • HCV and kids

STBBIs Immersion

This training allows you to discover the different STBBIs, their modes of transmission, the available treatments, and the effective intervention and prevention methods for each of them. This is the last level of learning to receive a complete HCV/STBBIs training.

Completion of the 4 levels grants you a certificate of achievement (in the form of a diploma) that guarantees your ability to work with key hepatitis C populations in a safe and inclusive manner.

Training for STBBIs key populations

The purpose of this training is to enable participants to acquire essential knowledge about HIV, HCV, and STBBIs in general, as well as to adopt effective, non-stigmatizing prevention measures as part of their duties.

Target audience: Practitioners working with people in detention or recently released Duration: 2 hours (approximately). Topics covered during the training:

Educative workshops on HCV or STBBIs

The purpose of this training is to enable participants to increase their knowledge of effective prevention methods for HIV, hepatitis C and other STBBIs and to promote the adoption of safe personal behaviours that can prevent the transmission of HIV, HCV and other STBBIs.

Target audience: People in detention or recently released. Duration: 1h30 (approximately). Topics covered during the training:

  • Brief overview of HCV and/or STBBIs
  • Transmission
  • At-risk situations
  • Screening
  • Treatments

The training mandate entrusted to us by the Public Health Agency of Canada with the DESIRS project is an educational offer that meets strict requirements and whose expertise is validated by years of experience in the field of knowledge transfer with supporting quality evaluations.

We have humbly taken the example of the training courses offered by the INSPQ to create our skills development offer. The DESIRS trainings will be publicized throughout Quebec to the directors and coordinators of organizations so that a certificate of successful completion of the module included in a CV is a proof of the excellence of the knowledge acquired by the person in the field of HIV, HCV and STBBIs.
